They are having another amateur event in my hometown this weekend, with 2 title fights and a female MMA fight. First I had heard about females fighting MMA, but should be fun to watch.

I agree. He was on loan from K-1 and hadn't been in the octagon for years. The UFC has evolved so much since then.

Ok, so I went to the fights last night and while they were a blast, they had something missing. The ladies did not fight as advertised, so I cannot report back to you face about how mean those ladies were. However I did see a couple bad ass knockouts and a nasty arm break from an arm bar that also separated his shoulder. It was pretty gruesome. Overall a good night of MMA.

Nice...I tihnk next month we have the IFL coming to Portland. If thats the case....I'm there.

Sounds like a nasty armbar.....what did the guy just take it and not tap...seems like nowadays as soon as it gets clinched, they start a tappin'!

Yea the guy just wouldn't tap until he just couldn't take it any longer then tapped...I didn't think anything about it because his tap was just a gentle tap, he didn't even act in much pain. After the guy released, you could see his arm, and he just started screaming in pain. I would say the reason he didn't tap soon enough was because he was defending his middleweight belt and didn't want to lose it. That is the only reason I can think of for not tapping.

The guy that won the belt came out and showed a lot of class though and got on the mic and told everyone to keep him in their prayers for a speedy recovery. He also came back out to see him out of the cage and to talk to him before he was taken away. The show of sportsmanship and class between MMA athletes is second to none.

i can not belive gracie lost, ive seen a video of him taking down every diffrent style of striking arts. Its the craziest thing ever, the only person that got close to winning was the wresler. Matt is a beast i guess, but he killed the originator... its like beating your dads ass...its kinda messed up but you still feel good about it.

There's no way that Royce could have won.

Even at his peak he wouldnt have beaten Matt Hughes in a UFC fight, especially with round limits etc, just not his style.

Sad, as he's my fave MMA fighter of all time.

What ever happened to Rickson too? I remember him being primed as the next great Gracie warrior, he released a video, then nothing apart from some junk tourney (may have been PRIDE actually) when he beat some tiny japanese guy.
