cant believe Ricky Williams retired... :(

i still dont get why he did it... after only 5 seasons ricky williams has decided to retire. the manager said it came out of no where.... just one day he went into his office and he wont be coming to practice anymore

he failed his 2nd drug test, and was fined 650k he smokes weed all the time and was suspended for the first 3 games this season

its really sad to see someone with that much talent in football to just blow it away on weed....

oh well i guess.... future hall of fame gone

The AFC East is such a weak division now. Miami won't be a threat, Buffalo is rebuilding (new coach so give them a year to get better). The only good teams will be the Pats (who are going for Miami's record) and Jets (who will be fine as long as everyone remains healthy).

He has plenty of money, so I guess he wants to retire and enjoy it before he gets all banged up. I think it's pretty obvious that he dosent have the same passion for the game as a Jerry Rice or a John Elway, but to each his own.

I think the guy is a selfish jerk! His entire team was depending on him. He may owe nothing to management, but he still should consider the guys in the locker room beside him. If you want to retire, fine. But don't go to all the team meetings and workouts and then jump ship at the last minute. Williams made a commitment to every guy he played with. And he simply turned his back on those people. If Williams had announced this in February or April, that's fine. But don't wait until the day before camp opens and pull this crap. I think the guy should have sucked it up, played his ass off for one more year, then walked away after the last whistle of the last game.

He will be back. Hes only 27 and he wasnt taking his medication. This can go two ways he will be back during this season or next seaon once he realizes hes crazy. Or he turns into a bhuddist monk and disappears off the radar smoking reefer with asian monasteries in the mountains once he retires for 60 years.

As a pothead I can side with with Ricky. As a Dolphin Fan I'm inclined to hate his ass.Ricky is retireing b/c he's been on tour with Lenny Kravitz all summmer get stoned to the bone and partying. As has been stated he has already poped positive twice for weed and a 3rd offense would prob cause him to miss the whole season possible end his football career. I guess Ricky didnt wanna go out that way. Still he could have made this decision 6 weeks ago then my Fins wouldn't be stuck w/o a runningback. Now if we get James and Wanstad getsfired then I might just have to thank him. I hate wanstad almost as much as I hate Jerry Jones.

ESPN Radio just reported that the Dolphins plan to sue Ricky for $8 million plus, to get back his signing bonus and other payments that his "retirement" nullifies.

Edgerrin James isn't coming to Miami. He said he wanted to be traded there a couple times before, and Indy said there is no way it would ever happen.
