Seriously, why doesn't this big headed bastard just walk away from the game? What is he holding on too? His body is breking down, baseball fans for the most part hate him and don't want to see him pass Ruth or Aaron.

Is he really that selfish? He knows he cheated...so why? Why take a run at the most honored record in American sports?

Now he says his life is in shambles. Shambles? You are payed millions of dollars to play a game. Go talk to people who suffered over Katrina. go talk to the wives and kids of soldiers in the Middle East.

No...but you can hit the ball farther. The extra juice you get on the ball could be the difference between a homerun, and a flyout.

Im torn. one part of me agrees. he should walk away.. cause he is a piece of shit.

but then. I have to wonder. 90% of them cheat. so whats the big f'n deal.. Id kinda like to see one of those untouchable records fall. Griffey Jr fell apart. so he really wont have a chance. and its pretty early in Pulhols career to start thinkin about things like that.. but if he stays on pace.. wow.

Im pretty pumped about this year in baseball. abit bummed that ol Busch Stadium is gone. but excited to see what the new stadium will bring St. Louis.

I hope he breaks Ruth record in the first two weeks, and passes Hank by at least a 100. No one was bitchin' and complainin' about McQwire, Sosa and....BRADY ANDERSON! For fuckin' god's sake.....Brady fuckin' Anderson hit 58. Bonds wasn't cheating because baseball didn't ban what he was using at the time. Most fans say they hate him, but will use their rent money to buy a ticket when he comes to town. It's amazing how no one toots Ken Griffey, Jr.'s horn for doing what he did naturally.

Just imagine if Tony Gwynn took the roids for his entire baseball career! Can anyone say 1400 homeruns? It's true, roids don't help you make contact with that small, fast white ball. But for someone who had arguably the best eye in baseball, it could easily change what we currently know about America's pasttime. For that reason, I don't like the influence of steriods in baseball. I think Barry has talent, but the roids certainly gave him a long ball that he didn't have before (in that magnitude). I say he should walk away before he gets the record and tarnishes it forever.

Stop kidding yourself about Bonds not cheating because MLB didn't have a steroid policy at the time. Since 1990 it has been a federal offense to use non-prescription steroids and MLB has always had a policy against illegal drug use.

What I cannot understand is why the people of San Fran still embrace this guy. It's not like they cut him some slack because he helped bring them a World Series win or anything. In fact his postseason performance is pretty sketchy.

Does this mean everything Lawrence Taylor did should be purged from the records because he was admitted cocaine user and played under the influence? Or maybe Villanova should give up there 1985 NCAA championship because one of there starters admitted to playing under the influence. I don't think anyone would equate them with cheating. But performance enhancing drugs? Yes. But they weren't prohibited by the league. It may have been morally wrong, but not against MLB rules. Your logic is a stretch.

Sketchy? Last I heard he was having a better spring then last spring.....2 homers in the first 9 at bats. If that was anyone else, you would be saying that person was on fire.

Actually...if you look into the Major League Drug Policy, steriods were prohitbited in baseball. They just weren't regular testing and no suspension policy was intact. Baseball had a rule against it....they just didn't monitor it like they should have. People that use the "it wasn't against the rules" need to check on their facts.

now is it cheatin? do you think babe ruth was clean? he was full of more narcotics and "blues" then anyone. same thing for TY Cobb. he cheated at every turn, and a racist to boot. still in the hall of fame. do i feel sorry for BB and his 20 mil a year? fuck no.

but he will get the record way sooner than Hank Arron did, what was he? 46?? and Bonds does it with basically no pitches to hit. roids dont fix that. and all the walks? no one comes close to his abililty to contact the ball. not big mac, conseco, reggie, nobody. he was tested over a hundred times last year and the year before and still hit a huge number of homers.

I guess this thread should be bumped because the cheater is only one off from becoming the 2nd best HR hitter in history. And the sad part is he'll probably do it at home against my Cubbies. Nobody answered my prayer at the beginning of the season that he'd commit suicide before getting this far, or that his knee would asplode...or he'd get ass cancer. Now he's going to be like McGwire and his highlight of breaking the Babe will be against my Cubs. Too bad Steve Trachsel isn't pitching tonight.

I love how all the Philly fans treated this disgrace to the game. The huge signs out in left field that said, "Babe did it on hot dogs and beer" and another one that said something like "Hank did it with grace". I also love how ESPN decided to show the Babe sign once and give some canned color comment like "I guess the fans are really expressing themselves." and refuse to show the other signs. I hear there was a sign that had something to do with "Bonds did it by cheating" or something to that effect...anyone who could find and post pictures would be appreciated.

Bonds will go down in history as being one of the biggest frauds in baseball history, right next to Brady Anderson, Jose Canseco, Rafael Palmeiro, Ken Caminiti and Sammy Sosa. I wonder what it feels like knowing that you didn't actually achieve something by yourself...I guess that's a question for Mark McGwire when he decides its time to make a few more mil on a book in 20 years or so.

I've been really suprised how much ESPN has been supporting Bonds through this. They are pretty much on their knees with this guy. I guess thats because of the "Bonds On Bonds" show. But come on.....you all know he's a cheat. I wish one sportscaster would step up and call this dude out.

I'd like Rick Reilly from SI to pull the stunt he pulled on Sammy Sosa with Barry Bonds...that would make for good "reality" TV.

If I were a Major League pitcher who gave up any home run to Bonds (let alone the one that broke the Babe's mark for 2nd place), I'd jog around the basepaths with him, and make motions like i'm injecting a needle into my ass, slapping the inside of my elbow to raise veins, and then act like i'm injecting a needle into my arm, etc. The fact that it would be played on Sportscenter and commercials, the Today show, and every other media outlet around the world, would make it worth any fine that Selig could throw down. Plus it would get a hell of a lot of laughs.
