Well I am no expert but here is my take.....They (the government....ie, the ones in power) hate us (some may say they have good reason). They (the ones in power) want everyone to be muslim. They (the ones in power) are swimming in cash from their oil. They (the ones in power) finance hezbollah....islamic jihad...al-qaida...and any other group that wants to kill, maim, or destroy anyone that doesn't agree with them. They (the ones in power) want a nuclear capability so that they can play "hardball" on the world stage (think poker my friend). The problem is, in my humble opinion, is that if they have the nukes...the desire...and money....they can easily find someone that will use that against us. The more of us "infidels" they kill, the happier they are. Can you imagine even a small nuclear weapon going off in ANY city in the US. And it will happen. We dont have the will or the patience to confront this......It will happen....just watch and see...we are way to weak in our collective will...

Not to hijack, but I totally agree with this. I truly believe that it is only a matter of time before a nuke will go off in a US city. And, living in West LA, I just hope it is later rather than sooner.

Think about it... with all the nukes out there unaccounted for and with rogue nations such as Iran determined to obtain the technology to make them, EVENTUALLY someone their hands on one. And once that happens, it is just too easy to sneak one into the country and drive it into the heart of a city.

That is not going to be a fun day.

The thing is, if they were to use a nuke on the U.S., it would be the same as signing their own death warrant. I don't think the Iranians are eager to see their entire country and population obliterated as a result of an attack on America or Israel. Trouble is, they (Islamic radicals) claim to have no fear of death. As in any country, however, the leaders don't seem to share the same willingness to die as the sheep who follow them. I tend to believe its all about political hardball, and not so much about using the nuke. But then, there is that old joke about Americans talking about the future in a bar where many nationalities hang out. An arab comes up to the americans and complains that all the stories they tell have no arabs in them. The americans reply that "that's because we are talking about the future."

I cant understand his intentions but......Christians generally preach love, acceptance and tolerance (whether they practice it or not). Muslims (The radicals who seem to have hijacked the religion) preach hatred and death. (Read the books) You bring up a good point though....Apparently you arent CHristian but trust me.....if THEY have their way you will be praying 6 times a day toward Mecca or they will kill you too and gain points in paradise. BTW if you are Christian and kill you are fucking downgraded. (again read the books) And they wont give you a second glance...They will shoot you in the head and walk on your chest....as they go to shoot the next fool that dont agree with them...Their are no atheists in their world...Christ says here I am...if you want me take me but if not.....go your own way....Christ is a true gentleman...but I understand he has been misinterpreted. So you read it as being a message of hate and death... and KKK members read the bible the same way. I guess it's more of what interpretation you have, cause I'd be willing to bet that most Muslims wouldn't agree with what you said. However, a few (the eastern KKK sect) would agree.

Hey I am not looking for conflict....I will agree that many Christians misinterpret and the Islamic religion is being hijacked. I myself am a Christian. I am a Christian by choice. And before you go there, I am fully aware of OUR atrocities. I also know that my God will NOT reward such actions. I also know that most Muslims feel the same way. Every religion has its extremists. Any Christian (or any person, for that matter) who doesn't recognize the hate and intolerance preached by certain members of the extreme Christian right has his head in the sand. Listen to that numbnutts Pat Robertson for a few days. He's about 4 bricks short of a load, and if he had his way, he'd favor doing what Osama wants to do: namely wiping the world clean of any who don't share his warped sensibilities. He's just not ignorant enough to kill for it, at least not by his own hand. And in my 50 years on this planet, doing business, teaching, coaching kids, I can say that beyond the shadow of any doubt, the 4 most hypocritical, thieving, lying people I've encountered in my personal experience have been self-proclaimed Christians, who hide behind their Christian "beliefs" as a way of somehow justifying (to themselves) their awful behavior. Its as if by professing to have certain principles, they can ignore their own behavior. Christian principles are a worthy goal for any person, whether atheist, jew, moslem, or whatever. But there is a big difference between calling oneself Christian, and being such.

So you aren't looking for conflict and yet you end by saying that a "screwy" religion suits me... Ok, how bad do you want me to flame you?

For starters, there is a movement in YOUR religion that is very intolerant. It's the stance on homosexual marriages. So God creates man in his image, and yet you judge his creations as being wrong and ungodly. Now who is judging? Eye for an eye? Ah yes, cause Christians are the first in line to pull the switch at someones electrocution. And who bombs an abortion clinic? Christian extremists. Now before you call me out and say I'm defending one extremist religion, know this... I dislike ALL extremists. I'm a spiritual person, but not religious. Cause I view religion as a man made way of corrupting something pure. I'm glad you feel differently, but do not dare use a Bushism on me! thanks for your inputs, but my main question was essentially, "does anyone know a/the specific event (if there is one) that, well, 'broke the camel's back', as some would say"? what, in particular, made them finally take a stance of war with eventuality against us? there may very well not have been one...they just might have finally gotten fed up...so i was seeing if anyone knew what happened (again, if anything). thanks.

The thing happens to be that iran has actually tried to make dialogue with the US. There was a 17 page letter sent through the Swiss embassy which went largely ignored by this administration. Much like hussein was ignored when he asked to have a debate mano a mano with bush prior to the war. To me it seems like we're being fed a large amount of bs through the media to justify another unnecesary war. If Iran was such a threat, I think their neighbors would be on their asses by now.
