My thoughts exactly. My dad called me yesterday all upset about how the country is now going to hell in a handbasket. America has survived worse than Obama, and we've perservered. Life goes on.

For all we know at this point Obama could be the greatest president ever. Even though I voted for McCain that doesn't mean I want to see the guy fail.

I must say though that I am (kind of) worried about another attack. The guy's been saying all along he supports troop withdrawal. I'd test it if I were them. It'd make it a really tough decision for him. Does he fulfill his campaign promise and appease the leftists who don't want war no matter what, or take a different course? (FTR: I offer no opinion on what the right course is).

I am worried about another attack as well, but if you think about it - it doesn't make sense for them to do it right now. If they were smart, they would lay low until Obama pulls all (or most) of the troops out of the mideast and then then can get stronger. The last thing they would want is another surge that puts thousands more troops up their ass.

In 4 or 5 years, we're still going to be bankrupt as a country as well as lulled into a false sense of security by the dormant (but increased strength) terror-fuckers over there - and then they could really do some damage.

Republicans have been planning the withdrawl of troops from the middle east for a while. A couple of the military guys over on the truck forums have classified clearences and they were allowed to say that they are already planning how. It might not be 100% pull out, but the military presence there will be reduced big time.

All of the die hard conservatives saying Obama was muslim leaning and god hating were debunked a long time ago and last night AGAIN when Obama said GOD bless america, and that we will kill terrorists.

Seriously, we have to be optimistic, because this bipartisan shit is getting old. I didn't vote Obama and I didn't like his platform or his policies, but hey...I'm still alive and I can work, that's more than I need to be american.

Exactly the point I was making to booty. There were a great number of people who voted for McCain. Obama only got 52% of the popular vote. Sufficient for a true victory but in reality no real mandate for his election.

PA an all or none state has dropped from 32 electoral votes when I was born to only 21 now. The republicans haven't taken the state in 20 years. The Democrats lead in the big city vote which is hard to overcome since the republicans are strongest mainly in the suburbs and rural areas. Obama did take a fairly large portion of the vote in PA(55%) slightly over 600,000 votes but you have to note some 600,000 new voters were registered of which 90% were democrats. Discounting the new voters Obama would have still won but by a lot closer margin. Something to note, Nixon took PA by 59.1% of the vote in 1972.

It took 20 minutes to talk my wife into going to vote and she was for Obama. She picks presidential canidates like she picks football teams. Needless to say I'm a great proponite of everyone voting. She use to be able to pick 9 out of 10 on the football pools.

I think more of them wanted "not Obama" or "the republican," not McCain.

Kinda funny watching all my friends here campaigning for McCain when it's a lost cause... they can call us a swing state but MN isn't going Republican.

As most have said, support who we have and move on. All the whining doesn't help one bit. I see lots of people on Facebook crying over "the defeat" and joking of leaving the country. Admittedly, I know a lot of Catholics that are basing everything on their religious doctrine....

why do you keep bringing up this 600,000 new voters thing and taking them out of the equation? Are you saying its worth even considering that 100% of the new voters in PA were fraudulent? Is it hard to think about the possibility that 90% of new voters are democrats because democrats are more motivated to vote now than ever before?

Facts are facts. If you lived in PA for the over 59 years I have, you would have known long before Nov 4 that Mr Potato Head would have won the state of PA.

The facts that in my county alone there was a guyworking for ACORN jailed for attempting to file fradulent registrations are noted in my previous post. This was taken from my local newpaper and also published in the Philly News. The new registered voters were of NO significants since the state would have went to the democrats anyway.

There were more registered Democrats than Republicans as per records in 2006. Registered Voters: 3,985,486 D / 3,405,278 R (580,208 margin for Democrats over Republicans)

Election Results for Philadelphia: D Barack Obama 83% 574,930 / R John McCain 16% 113,260 (461,470 margin for Obama)

Election Results for PA: D Barack Obama 55% 3,192,316 / R John McCain 44% 2,586,496 (605,820 margin for Obama)

Obama with 53% of the vote still leaves 47% for McCain as noted to Booty.

The electoral College votes don't reflect the actual vote count. An no one state is of any value if you don't get over 270. Noteably only 3 presidents have gotten over 500 votes(FDR, Nixon and Reagan).

Nixon lost in PA in 1960 against Kennedy who won the election by only 0.1% but 84 electoral votes.(303/219)

He lost again in PA in 1968 and only won against Humprey by 0.7% but 110 electoral votes.(301/191)

He finally won in PA in 1972 and won against Mc Govern by 23.5% but 503 electoral votes.(520/17)

Here things hinge on Philly and a few other places that are highly democratic.

I am trying to understand how President Bush was the worst President ever.
First, 9-11 Happened under his watch, and yet it was all planned under the Clinton Admin (Dem) which had simple and minor rebuttals to the terrorist attacks under that presidency.
Bush was able to regroup the country, and during the first six years, this country grew beyond belief.
The Stock Market hit highs that no one ever predicted.
The housing market skyrocketed and everyone was buying houses, even though many could not afford it. Both parties where claiming they where helping to fulfill the American Dream (go back and check this, it is real)
the Unemployment was lower then it had been in 40 years, including the Illegals, which had the highest numbers ever. We ALL where getting fat.
Then things changed. When you go rela high, you have to fall a long way, and that has happened.
We where just starting to stumble in the last two years when Congress became mostly Democrat and fought Bush on everything! They all added billions to bills to try and get something before Bush would Veto, or for a free ride.

Everyone forgets that Congress's Approval rating was LOWER then Bush's and yet many of the existing member's got re-elected (if you voted for an existing senator or Rep, you are an IDIOT!).

Congress has more control of the country then the President does.

And now, using OUR tax dollars, have bought Banks, given money to help the housing industry and also the Auto industry. They own things they should not own.

I hope That Senator Obama can make the changes he has promised, and does do something positive. I will pray he can and does.
I just hope I am not right about him, for if I am, we are all screwed.

I really do hope our Government pulls it's head out and does something positive for this great country.
