Personally swords are my favorite. I own a few. they arent sharp and its probably better that they arent, because i wouldnt have a bed if they were. Katanas and ninja swords are my preference.

I actually prefer sabres, or more Western swords anyways (although there are some cool Chinese swords, like a couple of the ones in Hero). I like the Western fighting style better than the Japanese one (the real Japanese one, not the movie version)... which basically involves running at each other and taking a swing.
That said, Katanas are pretty sweet looking swords

As someone who has studied kendo, has a decent knowledge of iado, and a few things about kenjutsu... you are wrong. Although there are a couple styles which focus on quick-draws (and therefore one-strike-wins), most styles are just as complex as any western fighting style you care to name. Moreover, personally, I like the characteristics of a katana, and the cyclical nature of kendo/kenjutsu.
But, of course, this is just the opinion of some random martial arts nerd.

dissolution: Is that dagger a printed pattern, pattern-welded steel, or true damascus steel? If it's actually the latter, I will be very impressed!

I like me some swords mhmm! :yumyum:
When it comes to pure quality of sword, japanese swords are the best without question.
I mean when one is crafted they are folded over so many damn times.
Where as western style swords are clunkier and no where near as durable or sharp.
But I do like western style swords, in fact I like all swords.
I own a few. they arent sharp..
If you are gonna collect swords why would you get ones that aren't sharp lol. Now if they are replica's from your favorite movie I can understand but when they are not don't bother getting replica's as it's just wrong. If you are going to take the effort to collect then don't collect shit, collect the real deal.
Swords I prefer then knives when it comes to blade weaponry.
Of course I like me some guns! :shoot:
I collect all kinds of weapons, whether blades/guns or other stuff. And unlike some people I know how to use everything I collect as well as everything I collect can be used no matter how damn old they are and some are very old.

Actually, no, japanese blades are not the best. There are several reasons why everybody thinks they are, though. One you addressed was the multiple folding-overs of the blade in production. Two things about that: first, a katana blade is only approximately 2^30 molecules thick, so any more than 30 folds, and you are actually decreasing the organization of the molecules of the blade. Second, the only reason this folding process was ever invented was to compesate for the piss-poor iron and steel which was available on the island of Japan; thus, it is a compensatory technique, not one which necessarily brings it into extraordinariness. Another thing is higher average quality of a katana, as opposed to a European sword. While Japan was basically starved for steel, and thus it was used only to make the finest weapons possible, Europe was awash with steel (especially from the Nordic countries, like Sweden, which still produce the highest quality blade-steel in the world), so they just churned out as many blades as were needed, regardless of quality, with only those who could pay for the very best (kings and feudal lords, not your average swordsman) getting well-made bladed weapons. This brings me to the third thing... katana have a legendary quality about them, regardless of any history or fact. If you look at the actual history and fact, both Damascus and Toledo (in Arabia and Spain, respectively) made blades that matched, if not exceeded, Japanese katana in every measurement (ever heard the legend of a true Damascene blade cutting through a silk kerchief in midair?) Personally, I prefer katana, but that's just because that's what I'm trained with, and am most comfortable with; but it's a pet peeve of mine when people get all fanboyish about them, when really all the "great" stuff about them is either legend, or just to make up for shitty steel.
As for your ability... I'm sure you can use everything you have, but can you really use them to their full ability? Assuming you can shoot, can you shoot with grace and accuracy? Assuming you do kenjutsu, kendo, or iaido, can you implement your techniques with grace and fluidity, while still maintaining the strength of the movements? If you honestly can, I'll be impressed; but as someone who has studied all these arts, I can say with no mal-intent that I sincerely doubt anyone could master all of them.
And for dissolution: Do you mean that it is printed on the blade, or that it is pattern-welded steel? The easiest way to tell (assuming it's not a poorly done print on the blade) is if the pattern continues down to the very edge of the blade, even when sharpened.
