View Full Version : WTF Cali to require fingerprints when purchasing ammo
Just found this article. It's not much; I'll find a longer, more informative article when I locate one.
Posted today:
This week, Governor Schwarzenegger (R-Calif.) signed yet another severe, but impotent gun control measure into law. Assembly Bill 962, which takes effect on February 1, 2011, mandates individuals purchasing ammunition to be fingerprinted and registered at the time of sale and outlaws mail order ammunition purchases. AB 962 will also require dealers to maintain these records indefinitely and make them available for inspection by the California Department of Justice. As an additional burden, ammunition retailers will also be required to store ammunition away from purchasers. AB 962 failed to garner support from Attorney General Brown, or any law enforcement organization. In fact, 15 sheriffs wrote letters of opposition to this legislation
It's been very difficult locating any information about this subject. I guess the media hasn't really done any reporting on this legislation. Anyway, I did find this note, indicating an assemblyman has started legislation to repeal the ammo fingerprinting requirement. Will you Cali members call and write your assemblymen asking for support of this legislation??

Assemblyman Hagman Amends A.B. 373 To Repeal A.B. 962 Attack On The Second Amendment

Assemblyman Hagman's bill will take back the rights of gun owners in California
Sacramento- Assemblyman Curt Hagman will amend his AB 373 to be an immediate repeal of AB 962 by Assemblyman De León. AB 962 requires individuals purchasing ammunition be fingerprinted and registered at the time of sale, mandates that dealers keep these records and make them available for inspection by the California Department of Justice. Ammunition retailers would also have to store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers and mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited.
"The laundry list of new requirements in Assembly Bill 962 treats law abiding citizens like criminals. The only people this bill will affect are those already following the law," stated Assemblyman Hagman, "My bill will ensure that California's responsible gun owners are not punished by this excessive regulation from Sacramento."

AB 962 Assembly Bill - INTRODUCED (http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/09-10/bill/asm/ab_0951-1000/ab_962_bill_20090226_introduced.html)
AB962 is a fucking joke. Lucky for the people in Cali though, they removed the part that limited ammo purchases to 50 rounds. No internet sales to Cali is gonna fuck everybody there, since storefronts will be able to charge whatever they want without having to try and compete with online prices.
Well, everyone should come east and visit fmb. On the way home, you can load up with ammunition and cart your purchases right across the state line. Well, I'm on the east coast, so you'd be hauling your purchase across numerous state lines.

I'd deliver ammo to Cali people. I'll meet them at the In-N-Out in Redding.
