We had DirecTV, It would attempt to dial-in like twice a day. We never did the PPV thing, since we have lots of kids we 'locked-out' the option so the kiddies would not be able to order anything.
Then we got a bill for PPV channels. 29 viewings, at all hours of the day and night, over a period of 14 days, $350 worth of PPV.
After we exchanged numerous letters with DirecTV, and they sent the bill to a collection-agency, and another year went by, they finally told us that the PPV viewings were for 2 years before they decided to even bill us. And that the unit had been trying to dial-in and down-load the billing for that long.
I have yet to this day, to view a single PPV anywhere, anytime.
DircTV insists that their equipment does not fail, or make-up charges.
But they also say that the equipment will routinely hold these charges for years before they will decide when to finally charge you.
And that DirecTV will routinely charge people for PPV charges years later, and not tell you that such is for things that they say happened years ago.
They did offer that they would accept a payment of half the money to drop the bill. Which we finally did pay, thinking that now they would release our credit-rating. What they did was they re-reported the reduced bill as an outstanding debt, back to the debt-collection agency.
There is not any method of successfully arguing with them that you did not watch a PPV once they get it into their computer. "Our system never fails, it is always correct"
:-(
