I'm driving from Salem OR to Bakersfield CA the first weekend of May. Aside from it being a long drive, it's not that bad since I'll be on I-5 for about 95% of the drive. Anyone able to give me updates on gas prices on I-5 stops between here and there?

msn has a feature that allows you to enter a zip code and it'll give you gas prices in that town... very helpful.

Bakersfield is more like Central Cali, but hey...we'll take what we get. Gas is pricey in the bay area, try to fill up before you hit it. Gas is just pricey EVERYWHERE in Cali. Use cruise and stay at safe speeds, the cops by the 99 through Bakersfield are on 02 Z 28's and they are QUICK, plus radar EVERYWHERE.

I'm driving from Salem OR

I live about 30 mins away from Salem. I go to the armory everytime Korn is in town. I have no idea why I'm telling you this. I am a fucking gay.

Bakersfield? Why the hell would you want to go there? Just kick in the extra 2.5 hours and be in SoCal instead of CentralCal.

If you have to go to Bakersfield. Check out a bar called the Wagonwheel. I've never been, just heard it in a Camper Van Beethoven song years ago. Tell me how it is.

I'm going to Bakersfield because it's where I grew up and I'm going to see some family that's still down there. Trust me, I'm not going just for kicks. I lived most of my life there, I know how much of a shithole it is.

Take 101 all the way down. You'll like the drive a LOT more.
