HU USW: 0600
HU DSW: 0006
H USW: 64-67 not in stream
HU DSW/USW: 1-6 not in stream
Winexplorer 4.6
BasicH 3.2
ExtremeHu 1.72
No HU Unlooping or Emulation
H Card Unlooping and Emulation(Active)
ExtremeAct 1.5(Only thing working with current Hashing)

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 721----

What it means: The Channel tier have fallen off your card.

What to do: Refresh your tiers using Extremeact 1.5 FOR the HU cards and The latest Activation script for H cards

Please stand by----

What this means: Your card is not currently at DSW06, this usually happens during a hashing, this happens because DTV wants you to have the Card at DSW06 so it is ready to execute Dynamic Code.

What to do: Simply let it Update to DSW06 in the receiver.

Please insert a valid Access Card----

What it means: Your HU or H card is Looped either because of an ECM or because of a corrupted EEprom(If your using a bootloader or Emulator this could mean a whole host of things),

What to do:

If your using a bootloader,
1.Try reinserting it into the receiver.
2.Try wiggling it around.
3.You may have a corrupt chip on the bootloader which needs to be replaced.
4.Your card has been looped by an ECM or has been software looped.
5.Your bootloader might also need to be Flashed.

NOTE: If your using a receiver that supplies only 4.5v of power to the bootloader instead of the needed 5 volts you will also get this message, ex. HUGHES B2, if this is the case youll need to make the 5volt modification to your receiver.

If your using emulation,
1.Check to make sure nothing on your bootdisk is corrupted(including your cor file).
2.Check to make sure your emu board is working properly
3.Check to make sure your IRD is compatible with Emulation.
*4.Check to make sure your Card is auxed correctly
5.Check to make sure SLE44 is seeing your cor file and aux card.
6.Check to make sure your comports are working correctly.Run Testemu on both ports. http://www.metaloid.com/temp/testemu.zip
7.Check to make sure the computer is communicating with the Emu board
8.Check to make sure your using the right Phone wire.
9.Reset the IRD while emulation is running. Sooo many people with new emu's skip this step. Similary, "Searching for Satellite" comes up for a while on some IRDs (as long as 30 seconds) after reset. If you don't know to wait for that to go away, you could be looking for a problem that doesn't exist!

NOTE:Nothing can be done with looped HU cards as there is no Unlooping software for them yet.
H cards can be unlooped with the right software and Hardware.
Use this link to read up exactly what Emulation is.

Program not available in your area. Check Program Guide for alternate programming----

What it means: The program you are trying to watch on this channel is blacked out in your area. This could happen with sports games. This message also appears if you tune to another city's local channels on a 5th Generation receiver.

What to do: On 5th gen receiver nothing can be done about this as you can only choose 1 set of locals at a time. 1st-4th gen receivers will not have this problem with locals.
If your using Activation, make sure you have the optional sports tiers checked when you install ExtremeAct 1.5.
Optional Sports Tiers:
#C-NFL=62E8
#C-NBA=62E3
#C-ESPNFC=6322
#C-ESPNGP=630D
#C-MLB=62EB
#C-MLS=62F1
#C-NHL=62E7
#C-WNBA=62B8
#C-ESPN2=3375

Searching for satellite signal. Please stand by----

What it means: Your receiver cannot pick up a signal from The satellites.

What to do: Check your dish's position to be sure it has not moved. Test the signal strength using your remote control and on-screen menu. Your owner's manual explains how to run a signal test. Make sure the cables that run from your dish to your receiver are securely connected. If you have had severe weather conditions, you should inspect your dish for tree limbs, leaves, or other items that could interrupt a signal. You may have a Transponder Problem or an LNB problem. If you had to reposition your dish, turn off the receiver and then unplug it from the outlet or power strip. Wait 15 seconds, then plug your receiver back in and turn it on. Even if your dish has not moved, try resetting the receiver to see if this clears the message. If inspecting your equipment and resetting your receiver do not correct the problem, and there is no visible weather problems or foliage in your way, then you may have to replace your LNB.

Your Access Card is full. Please call customer service, ext. 731----

What it means: Your access card has exceeded its pay per view limit. This happens if you have ordered more then 25 PPV's which is the limit for Activation.

What to do: Wipe of the PPV's using Extremehu 1.72

Channel not available----

What it means: Your account is not authorized to receive the channel, or programming is not available for this channel when you are trying to watch it.

What to do: Check the Program guide or Refresh your tiers using ExtremeAct 1.5

Channel off the air----

What it means: This channel is not being broadcast at this time.

What to do: Not all channels broadcast 24 hours a day. Refer to your on-screen guide. This message also may appear when DTV is experiencing technical difficulties with a station's broadcast. If programming is scheduled for this channel, the broadcast will resume as soon as the technical difficulties are corrected.

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 722----

What it means: Your access to this channel has expired.

What to do: Refresh your tiers using ExtremeAct1.5, if that doesnt work, reapply the whole script. resetting your receiver can also fix the problem. To do this, turn off the receiver and then unplug it from the outlet or power strip. Wait 15 seconds, then plug your receiver back in.

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 732----

What it means: You've gone above the PPV purchase limit.

What to do: Set your PPV purchase limit higher.

For ordering information, please call customer service, ext. 745----

What it means: Your receiver may not be reading the information on your access card or The CAMID on your Access Card has been Blacklisted by DTV. Or in the Case of Emulation your computer might be too slow to keep up with the flow of information from the Datastream.

What to do: Make sure the access card, Bootloader or Emu Board is fully inserted in the receiver with the arrows facing up and into the machine. If the message still appears, turn off the receiver and then unplug it from the outlet or power strip. Wait 15 seconds, then plug your receiver back in and turn it on. If the message appears again when you reconnect the receiver, Apply a new Valid bin/image to your card. In the case of Emulation you may need to get a faster computer, A 66 mhz should do the trick, but with the recent datastream changes(especially if Directv decides to increase Blackout Bits) I'd recommend at least 100 mhz comp with 16 MB RAM. If you are using a slow Computer(anything under 66 MHZ) try taking the /s out of your command line, this may lighten the load and you might be able to get emulation working on the computer

Please insert your Access Card----

What it means: Your receiver doesnt see your access card.

What to do: Make sure your Access Card, Bootloader or Emu Board is facing Contact pads down in the receiver, if it still doesnt work then
A. your bootloader or Emu Board may be defective
B. The contact pads in the receivers card slot may be worn out.

Program exceeds the rating limit you set. Press SELECT to override this limit and enter password/key----

What it means: The rating for the event you are trying to watch is higher than the rating limit allowed by the parental control Locks and Limits.

What to do: Set the ratings Limit higher so you can watch good stuff like 596

Purchase exceeds the spending limit you set. Press SELECT to override this limit.

What it means: The purchase has exceeded the Per purchase spending limit

What to do: Set the per purchase spending Limit higher.

What to do: Place an HU CAMID and HU ZKT (Winkfix) on the H card and it will work in the Winked receiver.
1) to insure your card does not have any extra bytes of data floating around clean the Bin/cor file to 26 Updates with no Byte Difference(63 updates if this is a cor file).
3) Save your bin file that is now clean @ USW26 or USW63.
3) Open BasicH and locate your cleaned bin/cor file.
4) Open the bin file inside BasicH.
5) Next, click on the Eprom/Patch Image with Wildthing(intel) hex file.

There is great confusion as to what "WINK" is and what happens when a receiver is "Winked"

WINK Interactive is a subsidiary of Hughes Electronics. This feature makes your receiver have Interactive Capability. DTV figured you want to get more junk mail and the wink system lets you push a button when watching a commercial and the receiver will report back to DTV who will give your request to the advertising company who in turn will flood your mailbox with more junk mail. It is a handy feature in the winter when you need paper to start the fireplace but can be and is exploited by DTV to write to the receivers' FLASH EPROM memory and possibly corrupt it if a hack is detected. Right now all they did is that they updated the FLASH EPROM to reject H cards with an H card's CAMID number. Now not every receiver has this "time bomb" inside it, only the new 5th generation ones and even those might be free from it if they were not exposed to the data stream or have been modified not to take the update.A WINK'd receiver can be UNWINK'd. They are not wink'd forever, unless you don't mind them being wink'd. But, unwinking information can be found at www.unwink.com (thanks Blaknite!). (Thanks To JustCuz)

To check whether your IRD has the update or not, without hooking up the satellite cable press

menu -> options -> upgrades -> past
If it says 380105 receiver has not been winked yet.
If it says 380120 receiver has taken the wink upgrade.

Once your IRD is "Winked" it will be "Winked" forever. With our ability to extract HU cards' ZKTs it really is not much of a hindrance to emulation with an H card, but the write protect modification should still be performed to prevent DTV from corrupting it in the future making a pile of garbage out of your receiver.

Your Access Card has expired, please insert new Access Card----

What it means: You are getting that message because you do not have all the updates to the card yet. Both the DSW(Dynamic Status Word) and USW(Update Status Word) need to be at 6.This can also occur when an HU card's tier checksums don't match the proper hash result of that specific tier and tier date.

What to do: 1) leave the cleaned card in the receiver for a couple hours and get the updates from DTV.

If you have a card that is stuck at some USW level and will not update, the fix is as follows:

1. Load a copy of the .bin that will not update into ExtremeHU and in the edit mode, change the value at 3224 from 02 to 00.

2. Write this .bin back to the card.

3. Insert the card into the stream. It may take from no time to as long as 2 1/2 to 3 hours for the USW to update.

4. Use the check mark feature in ExtremeHU to verify the updates are at USW 0600 and DSW 6. If correct, read this .bin into ExtremeHU and in the Edit mode, change the value at 3224 back to 02.

5. Save a copy of this .bin and write it back to the card.

6. If you did this and it still doesnt update then you might have CMD90 or CMD80 Blocking On and youll need to clean your card.

A Short has Been Detected---(Provided by sdjcj5)

What it means: There can be a problem with your Access Card, Coax Cable, LNB or IRD or there could be faulty Grounding.

What to Do: This message has been seen the most in Sony IRD's, they are notoriously voltage sensitive and give the 'Short Detected' error quite often. The short probably has nothing to do with the card, card slot or the internal workings of the IRD. Most ‘Short Detected’ errors can be traced to a failing LNB, faulty grounding or even a deteriorating coax cable. Try replacing or running a straight length of cable to the dish and LNB, if it eliminates the error you have solved your problem. If it persists, it may be the LNB. You are just going to have to do a little trouble shooting to isolate the bad component. If the IRD works well at another location the IRD is not bad. As a last resort - the IRD may be faulty.
