Can someone explain to me the basics of online sports betting?

I think the laws for online betting is based on where the place is loacted, not where you are... correct me guys i'm wrong..

basics... you make an account.. either tie a checking account/credit card to the account or transfer money to account... and bet ... odds varies according to game/event in which you are betting.. i remember there was a place that you could bet on world events (at that time was how long saddam was going to stay in power, war duration, etc)..

sorry for the gratuitous advise... just be careful, eazy to loose to much, since you do not "see" what are you betting, it is easier when you actualy have the chips/cash in your hand, you know exactly what you have... for what i know a good bettor is the one that knows his/her limits and knows when to stop...

these are not designed to trick you, but to attract an equal amount of bets to both sides, netting the sports parlor a profit. Say their commission is 10% on losing bets, (you bet $110 to win $100). In the superbowl, say $10 million is bet on New England, and same on Philly. No matter who covers the point spread, they make a million dollars. Do the math.
There are ways you can overcome the odds and make a profit, but you have to be informed.

Basic tips

don't bet every game, especially every monday night football game.
weather forecast is snow? try betting under
over/under means total points scored will be over under the amount given.
Is it a revenge game? In other words, a team is going to pay the other one back for a previous loss?
If you are naive about the sport you bet on, don't bet. you will lose your shirt in a hurry.
