This will be my positive thread that I mention things that I enjoy daily or every now and then.

For today it's a tie!

* Sprite Remix and/or Orange Soda (both are so good!)
---
* Werther's Original Chewy Caramels (even better then the original!)

umm... forgive me if this is a dumb question... how can it be better than the original if it's "original chewy caramels"?

umm... forgive me if this is a dumb question... how can it be better than the original if it's "original chewy caramels"?*suppresses the urge to cry, "What a dumb question!"*

Let me take a moment now to educate you, kulotsalot, on the fact that the "Werther's Original" line of candies is named not in reference to the originality of the product as it is presented on today's market, but rather, that it has a long and deeply-seeded history indeed.

(Cue the "Mists of Time", from stage left. Good. Now flicker the strobes. Aaaaand lone, lilting cello drifts up from the pit...excellent, now drop the curtain, switch props, and in 3...2...1...)

A long time ago - 1903, as a matter of fact - in the little village of Werther, Westphalia, a confectioner by the name of Gustav Nebel created his finest sweet, combining real butter, fresh cream, white and brown sugars, a pinch of salt, and lots of time.
Because these sweets tasted so delicious and were so well-received, he called them "Werther’s Echte", which translates to "Werther's Original", in honour of his little village.
So long ago, there weren't any brand names, so people referenced products according to their manufacturer or their place of origin. One can assume that in that time there existed many products commonly known as "Werther's candies", but the recipe for the "Originals" was the first.

The Werther's line has just recently expanded to occupy the soft-n-chewy niche as well, to the acclaim of some (fools!), and to the dismay of others (purists such as myself), but the basic recipe created over a century ago by old Gustav Werther remains intact to this very day.
That is the story of the "Werther's Original".

(end monologue, fade out, curtian lower, prop swap, curtain raise...and we're back in the present)

So after all that, I gather that it would be safe to assume that you have, in fact, never had a Werther's in any form?

Oh, I'm so sorry, you poor, underpriveleged thing. What a dark and difficult life you must lead.
I weep for you, like so:

You were on such a roll, too! Are you trying to bait me into a page-long monologue concerning the smoldering heap of wasted talent that is John Crosby?
I'll do it. Don't you doubt, man, I absolutely will.
I'll bemoan the production values and cohesive misdirection of every single VAST album since the very first self-titled release if that's what I have to do!

Just...not tonight. I'm sleepy, and my snobbery only truly shines when I'm awake, alert, and firing on all cylinders.

Well Buttermup... musical tastes are very subjective... and I'll subject your ass with my foot if you say anything bad about Crosby.
Is he the best ever? Nope... but do I like a few of his songs? Yep.

If I want a good recording I'll pop in Damien Rice or Fiona Apple, Dave Matthews Band or a Telarc.

So by all means... get some rest and then fire away, for once you strike, look towards Clemson and see holy hell coming your way! :rl:

Thing Daddy liked about today...

I'm a 25 year old Project Engineer with a Civil Engineering degree in charge of the F-22 munitions maintenance facility on base. I'm mexican, dress appropriately for construction because I go out to the field every day to make sure your tax dollars are actually hard at work and not just watering dirt. So I don't "look" like an Engineer.

The Superintendant is 61. He should wear appropriate safety equipment...hard hat, steel toed work boots, eye protection. He has a bad habit of going out of his trailer, without any of this on and running around heavy equipment. My boss, the Resident Engineer, has called him on it before and has advised me to keep wrning him every time I catch him. I called him on it today after already letting him slip a few times.

I was with an older construction rep who everyone thinks is my boss...I'm his boss :wiggle: So the Superintendant snaps at me with a "Young man, I am a 61 year old man. If you see me running around outside my trailer without safety equipment I am well abled to take care of myself and my job."

I replied, "Well Harry, I am a 25 year old man who needs to keep reminding a 61 year old man to wear the appropriate equipment outside of his trailer even though there is a huge sign attached to it telling him to wear it. You can either put on the equipment or I can send you home."

best meal I ever had was at red lobster, it was the night after what's mentioned in my sig occured. I had a steak and lobstertail and a good bottled rootbeer, can't remember what I had for desert.
Perhaps the Brownie OverBoard? Mmmm. :) Been years since i've had it...i used to go to Red Lobster for their all-you-can-eat crab legs.

I'm officially retiring this thread.

It was fun and got me to think positively just before going to bed. With that said, I'll finally let this thread fall off page 1 and become just another lost forgotten posting.

Good ressurect. I have a TON of things I like, and even more that I don't.

Today I like:

Not necessarily in that order.
