Is hacking te Dishnetwork as easy as DTV was before it got shut down? Does it stay up longer? Wondering if it is worth getting into.

I'm not too familiar with ch@rlie, but it seems a bit more complicated than d@ve. With d@ve, you simply needed an updated tier list and you could create your own activation. If your bin died, you just had to get a received you could jtag and put a hacked bin on and then lock the TSOP. Then you could randomly try C@MID's and not need the ZKT tables with it.
Maybe someone here who understands ch@rlie could enlighten us.

No, it is not as easy.
Yes, it does stay up longer.
Yes, it is worth getting into.
There is more work required, the end result makes it worth the trouble.
It is different from Dave in the fact that Charlie not only targets the card, he also targets the IRD. You must Jtag the IRD and reflash it after a ECM. Once you learn the basics, it is a piece of cake.

vhat is this FTA you speak of...
Free-To-Air is a term describing the method various DVB (digital video broadcasting) receivers are able to receive free programming from different birds. It is quite different from the stuff we know in the normal testing arena. The big thing recently is there are a few of these receivers that are able to receive Dish and bev through some type of Emu hack in the firmware.

I'm using now a fta receiver... enforcer... working pretty nicely without the problems we had last month (some kind of war between programmers and hardware makers)... using free firmware file.. so it is very inexpensive comparing to other testing methods.. receiver capable to get up to 128 dishes and up to 5000 channels, no need of emu

Yup. No more messing with t1er l1sts either. :-) And Ch@rlie in the process of trying to whack out FTA has been disturbing their own paying customers. How sad.
