Hi all,
I would like some help with this friend of mine's computer. The computer was so bad it didn't even boot up but the biggest problem is that there are user accounts on it that are protected by the Windows XP Home Ed password.
This is what I did already:
Tried to reinstall Windows with the second repair option. This made the system totally unusable since it stuck on the installation and it was always reverted back to that installation screen where it froze. I had it running all night and didn't move.
I reinstalled XP in a different directory which went without any problem. There are two folders that were used by the respective initial accounts but now I have no access to them. I have the user name and password but it doesn't even ask for them when I click on the folder. It states that the folder is locked. I tried to change and make them shared but no avail.
I want to copy these locked folders into an external HD, format the internal drive, reinstall Windows and copy the folders back but I can't do anything with them.
Help would be appreciated if anybody knows how to fix this problem.
Thank you
