Great game, definitely worth buying. It is hard and it is spooky/scary. My only complaint is that the game is almost too dark now. I can't see shit sometimes.

The Graphics are awesome, The sound is terrific (especially if you have a 5.1 channel sound card & speakers) The gameplay & atmosphere of the game are down right scary & disturbing.

If youi have nto bought the game yet & intend to, I recommend one thing when you play. Turn off all the lights & crank up your sound!

As far as having a powerhouse of a computer to run it. I have found taht you don't haveto have the top of line $5.000 PC to run it. In fact I am running on a Athlon XP 2800+ with a GeForce FX 5900 card & it runs great at Ultra Qualty.

Well worth money if you can afford it, if not wait 6 months & it will be around 39.99

If you have it, I would suggest looking around the net for the various codes and scripts that will help it run better on any computer. I did and my game runs a lot better.

Doom3 is more dependant on your Video Card than your Processor. I ran it on a 1.8 GHz Athlon with 512 Ram as well & it seemed to run fine. Had a 128MB GeForce FX 5200 card, which is kind of a low end card.

You only need a beefy system if youi want to run it at Ulta High Quality. Which is when you would need a 3 GHz processor & the high end video card.

By opinion is that ID sould release a Demo of D3 so people can try it to see if their system are up to the challenge, kind of like they did for Quake 3.

I've played it for a couple of days, and think it sucks. The flashlight does dick all, and its not even a proper light. And not having any flashlight when you are trying to shot sucks completely, as you don't know what the hell you are hitting.

Graphics and sound are amazing. It is also a pretty scary game. However, game play is more or less shoot everything that moves and try and dodge every attack that comes your way. Some people might find game play boring because of it.

Great game picked it up at target for only $43 and I agree you don't need a super pc to play it I have it running on one with a fx-5900 and another with a ti-500 (images not as great)

Great game with a very spooky mood. It is very very dark at times and that leads to the occasional "scare". The best way to play it is the new GeForce 6800 line with an AMD64. In fact the lowest clocked AMD64 outperforms the highest clocked P4... even the P4 Extreme Edition! It is very taxing on old graphics cards but there is virtually no difference in performance above 512 Megs of RAM.
I have a AMD64 3200+, 512Meg PC3200, and an ATI Radeon 9600 and the game runs fine for me.

Overall I'd say it is a worthwhile investment iff you have a decent enough computer AND decent speakers to get immersed in the game.

There is no way you can run Ultra Quality with a 5900... especially with an AthlonXP2800 and not a top of the line P4 or AMD64.

I like it very much. The game has a real grimey atmosphere but it's pretty hard to see in the dark sometimes. I haven't played that much but when the weather get worse i will.

The tension is superb, the fact you can't hold your gunand the flashlight out at the same time is genius. Slightly repetitive, but on the whole a solid experience which needs to be played with the lights off and 5.1 systm up loud.

Doom 3 was alright but i wouldent spend the money if u havent already, for one the game is Great for Graphics and Scare factor but besides that. you meet 1 or 2 new creatures every five of so levels and i thought the game was really pretty easy. and the whole thing with the built in cheats i thought that was kinda lame ( if u know how to get the console are the cheats are the same so the old ones) but overall it is a must play game . i just dont think i would pay 55$ to play it now. i think Silent Hill 3 or 4 are both great games not as demanding on your pc and involve a little bit of thinking

People must realize that the point of the game is to scare the hell out of you. What would the point of scaring you be if you could see everything and be prepared for it. The flashlight is off of the guns to pump the person to the limit (lights off and sound cranked are VERY helpful to the scare). This is one hell of a shooter that scared the shit out of me a couple times with the edge of your seat suspense that adds the yin to the yang of some feel of repitition. Overall a great game (even if it was for $50). Pretty much it's Tom Clancy getting his hands on a Silent Hill game and splicing it with Doom. Fucking good.
