Creative Soundcard problem

Guys, I am totally loss. I just installed a X-fi elite pro in my computer. Installation went great, got all of the new vista drivers. Problem I am having is with music. When I play WMP it seems to have a crackling noise everytime i move the mouse or while surfing the web. I tried itunes and it then sounded like a telegraph machine. I have a played fullscreen games and movies and it seems to not repeat itself. On the music side, I have tried CDs and Mp3s and the sound is the same. Im lost!!!!! Does anyone have any ideas??? I had that problem before and for me it would only work good with real player. I had to erase the drivers and go into default for mine to work right. After a month new drivers were released and when I installed them it worked fine.
