View Full Version : Thinking of flying to Moscow

As some of you know, most probably don't, I left Russia back in 1991. At the time, it was still USSR. I have never been back since, but I want to pay a visit to Moscow.

I have no idea how it's done. I am a citizen, so I guess I need Visa or some such from an embassy, right?

Assume you're talking to another American as I know absolutely nothing about this and haven't actually set foot outside the United States since 1992.

What I would like to know is this.

a) How does the process for an American who was born in Russia but pledged US citizenship work to travel to Russia?

b) Once in Moscow, how does one get around? How do you buy things, like food and hotel lodging? I imaging you can't just go around flashing dollars, that'd be borderline retarded, right?

If my questions seem vague, I'm sorry, I don't know what I don't know, so any help is appreciated.

I would say you need a passport for sure, and once you have that, get your plane ticket over there. Usually there are currency exchange offices in the airports at most major areas to exchange into the currency of the country. Or you can look for a place that will exchange the currency before you leave, some banks will do it, or look in the phone book. Hope that hleps.
