Up here in the land of beavers and hockey players, we just had our own federal election, otherwise known as the Centrist Hemmorage of 2008, where the Liberal party lost over a dozen seats to the socialist New Democrat Party on the left and the Conservatives on the right.
I'm curious to se what everyone here thinks of the results... What do you think this means for Canada as a whole, for Stephane Dion and the Liberals in particular (especially Dion's future as Liberal leader), and considering how similar Canadians and Americans are in many ways, what this MIGHT be a foreshadowing of for the upcoming U.S. Federal election.
Personally, this Canucklehead is pretty satisfied with the results, especially as it strengthens the Conservative government albeit not with the majority they were hoping for. The Liberals need some real direction and NOW (perhaps the new representive for the riding of Papineau?). As regards the U.S. election this might very well foreshadow a polarizing of the left helping McCain emerge victorious in November.
Opinions?
