One of the best trades the Dodgers have ever made. Andruw Jones has been a complete bust at the bat but now we now have a good power hitter who will knock some homeruns! Looks like Boston is giving up as they just got swept by the first place Angels.

if you call acquiring Bay giving up....

I'm more interested in the White Sox landing Griffey, makes things a little more difficult for the Twinkies

funny thing abut these big trades is the Yankees didn't make them. Isn't that Streinbrenners forte, throwing away lots of money at every big name player he can? Well, maybe the Red Sox won't deal with the Yanks....

Yeah I dont really mean the Red Sox are just simply giving up but the Angels are very tough and have their number. It will be Boston and the Angels in the ALCS as the Yankees are done for. I dont see the white sox making it all the way even if they just got Griffey

The situation with Manny became untentable in Boston. It was no longer Manny being Manny in a 'cute' way. He became a first class jerk. Epstein and Francona even went so far as to ask the vets on the team what THEY thought they should do. Tito was in danger of losing the clubhouse if Manny were to stay...he had to go.
Losing Manny in Boston was addition by subtraction. I dont know anything about Jason Bay, but I do know that the Sox are more of a team now than they were on wednesday.

Sir D is right. Manny lost the support of his teamates this time. The Red Sox put up with a lot from him over the years because of his bat, obviously. But quitting on his teammates, and the uncertainty of his quitting again sometime during the rest of the season was the last straw.

Sox gave up a lot to get rid of him. Dodger fans will love him beacuse he probably won't pull any shit over such a short period of time and wants to position himself for one more big contract. But given the difficulties the Sox had in moving him, he may be in for a rude awakening on the free agent market. His performance over the next two months will tell.

So far hes been doing extremely well, batting over 500 with two homeruns already and like 9 or 10 RBI's
