Anyone hear about the BioShock movie in development now?
The dude who directed Pirates trilogy is doing it apparently.
What do you all think? those who have played the game?

I certainly hope they don't make it more orientated for younger people.

It better be good and be very similar to the game. Most movies that are based on video games dont turn up well

Yes. Hopefully they stay faithful to the game.

ditto! finished it the first time in a 8 hour all night in the pitch dark gaming marathon, scared me shitless and loved every second. epic game.

I'd like a sequel before a movie, but both are probably wishful thinking for a few years at least.

Like I said in the thread about the game, I don't think its that great. I mean I know gameplay doesn't come into a movie, but other factors as well will make this horrible.

The story really wasn't anything special. At all. There is one sort of twist, but seriously its not that exciting and will definitely lose its value when not in first person(with the player making decisions). The whole thing about not knowing who you are talking to will be very difficult to deliver in film unless half the dialouge is over radio (boring). The little sisters... You just going to have one? You going to have the protagonist fight several big daddies throughout the film (I think that might get repetitive)? You going to force the "moral dilema" to one side (which isn't very interesting of a conundrum anyway)? There is just not that interesting of a story to work with and what was interesting about the game will be virtually impossible to pull off.

Not the mention Pirates 2 and 3 were awful, awful movies.

Maybe if its a movie set in the world, but not an adaptation of the game, it would work.

You want a game with a good story that is well delivered try Half Life 2 (although I would hate to see it made into a movie). Hell any zelda post occarina (maybe even link to the past) has a great story that is well delivered (albeit its almost the same story). I think metroid would make a pretty good movie (although you'd probably be able to cover almost all the story lines in the franchise in one movie).

Sorry for the long post and overuse of parentheticals (as always).
