I don't have much time for games these days, but today I decided to load up Nester on my Dreamcast. If you don't know, Nester is a NES emulator for the Dreamcast. It's pretty easy to load all the roms onto 3 cds.

Anyway, I've never been fond of 2d games on emulators, except for RPGs like Crono Trigger because of the awkwardness of using a keyboard. But playing on the DC pad makes it a lot more legit (feel wise).

I played a little bit of Contra and it felt pretty good :). I seriously hadn't played that since I was probably six years old which would be 15 years ago.

Anybody have any fond memories of the old NES? I've got a lot of them, although I do also recall a lot of "blowing dust" out of those damn cartridges that never seemed to work...

I still maintain that the original Legend of Zelda was the best. I remember playing spy vs spy but I think I was the only one that ever liked that game. That and all the time spent playing RBI baseball with friends. We played it so much one time that when I went to bed I could still here that stupid repetitive song in my head.

I got my son a Wii for his birthday, then realized that I can download past games for it (NES, SNES, N64, Genisis, Neo Geo, etc). I've got a shit load of gamed saved to it now but am still waiting for master blaster. A $250 game console with some of the most advanced gameplay technology, and I play 20 year old games on it.

Ya, I find that one of the best things about the Xbox 360 is that I can download old arcade games (or new ones) easily. Defender, Contra, Joust, Bomberman and they can all be played online with friends.
