View Full Version : Picture problems
Alright, everyone!
I'm having a huge problem with resizing photos I'd like to post in the forums. I have used a few different sites to upload photos; however, none seem to offer easy solutions to my problems. The sites I've tried are pix.nofrag (apparently doesn't support resizing), and imagevenue.com.
Image venue offers a sizing option; unfortunately, I have never been able to pick a size suitable for my posts. I tired the suggest 400x700ish, but it was too small. Several members have spent alot of time helping me with this subject, but I haven't been able to master it. Can anyone help me solve my problem??

I am a bit confused here....do you want to resize pictures on your computer or you would want them to upload in full size and then let the hosting site offer you various viewing sizes??
For the former, there are dozens of s/w available, many of them for free (including one from Microsoft which lets you right click on the picture file and resize)...for the later, I am not sure if you have any viable option
I use photoshop to resize everything I have.....just do the lot in a batch.
Thank you for the posts!
I'm wanting to resize the pic so I can post the pic in a forum thread. If I have to resize the pic on my computer first, that's not a problem. Some have suggested using Paint, but I couldn't figure out how to use this program to resize the pic. In addition, Paint wants to work with the photo as a bmp; I'm not familiar with this file type and have never worked with a bmp photo. I'm not sure if there is a difference!
Toss out some ideas. I'll try 'em!
Okay go and get Gimp. It's a free program that I am pretty sure you can resize pics with, as well as numerous other things.

Again, I'm not sure if you can resize your jpg images but it's worth a try.
If Gimp doesn't do it for you just Google "free picture resizing software" and I'm sure you'll find something useful.
Thanks folks! I'm trying to see if this works; apparently gimp doesn't work smoothly with Windows and I've had some difficult getting the program downloaded and open. Tonight, I'm gonna see if I can make it operate properly!
Doesn't such a powerful program seem a bit overkill for wanting to resize a pic? I liken it to shooting squirrels with my deer rifle....
hmmm ...
odd that , i use gimp on my machine ... windows XP .

I've never had any trouble useing Paint with jpgs, it's a bit confusing until you get used to it, but of course I'm used to paintshop pro, and adobe photoshop...good luck.
one other option is you can upload everything to %%%%%%%%%%%.com and when you upload it resizes them all, and when you post them elsewhere they show up at a managable size.
