View Full Version : jingling keys over the phone FTW
I just got off the phone with the car dealership. My friend jingled some keys into the earpeice and said "do you hear that? those are your new keys!"
I'm all excited to trade in my 10 mpg SUV for a fuel efficient one.
yay me!
the old car that I'm trading in:
http://forums.webrats.com/thread26691.html
the new car:
2008 Toyota Camry LE V6 (Silver)
I had a budget to stick within, so I couldn't afford the SE, hybrid, or XLE. The v6 was not an option for me- I can't stand 4 cylinder cars and the 4 banger camry is a pussy.
I yanked the entire stereo out of my old car and will be installing the whole thing in the new one. maybe as soon as this weekend. We'll see if I have time.

That's what my wife bought(Camry 2006-LE) but it's a 4-cyl.

Because interviewers see you drive up?
Hate to tell you, but the only thing that tells everyone you are an arrogant asshole is your attitude, not what you drive.
What are you going to use as a band car now?

heh heh yeah - congrats on the new ride but it does seem a step down from what you're coming from (no pun intended). I'm sure it will keep you happy for quite a while and definitely save you at the pump. I'm a fan of American iron myself & love my solid '94 Seville, though in the interests of fuel economy I may move to a smaller newer Caddy in the next year or so, maybe a newer CTS or a nice late model STS :)
Even I have to ask why the employer has to know what you're moving around in. Hell, it's your wheels!
BDJ: will you consider the CTS-V??? (If it's still available)...

hybrids ftl..
They forget to tell you that new batteries cost like $3,000 and you might need them in three years, throwing all gas savings out the window..
A co worker and i discussed how it costs money to save money on energy, and we figured your better off just paying.. wood stove, sure.. A couple grand for the stove, and a cord of split wood is $250, you go through about 3 cords in the winter, savings vs just using the heat you have 0... same with pellet stoves,

More like 6-9K.
I was bored at work last week and looked up the price on a battery in a Ford Escape Hybrid.

250 bucks for a chord of wood, its 40 bucks here, but my dads wood stove goes through a chord in about 3 days, unless a chord is different to your. Chord = fullsize pickup load
toyotas are nice, not as nice as they used to be comparatively and they are expensive

We had a family cabin on state forest leased land in central PA. It had 2 wood stoves but my dad replaced one with a kerosene stove in the main room. There was a regular gas stove & oven for cooking. We didn't use the back room that often. The back room actually made a great refrigerator in the winter if you kept the door close. It was a lot easier getting a couple army cans of kerosene then chopping wood. The only time we cut wood was when a tree was hit by lightning and it fell over onto the cabin. You needed a permit to cut down trees even on the plot of land the cabin was on.

Fin and YaMon saved us from the "firewood" hijack.
Camry is nice but did you compare it with the Accord? I haven't looked at features or prices on either of those cars in years. I know they used to be rivals...probably still are.
So i drove the car off the lot at 10pm on friday, and it was in the stereo/tint shop at 10am the next day.
Now it's got the full setup- dvd changer, bluetooth, navigation, tint, 2 12's in the trunk, etc.
Job interviews at my level aren't like sitting in the back room at a McDonalds. They know you very well before they hire you, and you network by taking people out in your car, etc.
I do consulting on the side, and if I want to take a potential client out for lunch, a new camry is MUCH better than a lifted truck for conveying the "I won't fuck up your shit" image. Know what I'm saying?
What's a wood stove? Is it for cooking or space heating? ::shrug::
The new Camry's look pretty pimp, and more so with tints, IMO. My dad had a '92 Camry that lasted at least ten years and he beat the shit out of it daily. And my mom owned a '96, which also lasted just as long.

The Camry is a good choice. It's got a fairly good sized interior so your clients won't feel like they're getting into a sardine can. It's also a lot better on the road with the 18 gallon tank. We always had to top off have way to my daughter's house when we had the Corolla with it's 11 gallon tank. Don't want to run dry where they live about a mile or so from Point lookout. You may want to make tracks if you see the Point Lookout Ghost(http://www.dnr.state.md.us/naturalresource/fall2001/ghosts.html). Actual he's suppose to be in the State park where the civil war prison use to be. Good place for tsmo, he might find a zombie or two running around. Really though that area is so desolate they don't even have cell phone coverage.
I don't know what makes Filipino woman dream of owning a Camry. But my wife dreamed of it for at least 20 years. Once she found out the local Toyota dealer had a Filipino salesman, it was destiny in the making. She would have had one instead of the Corolla but her job at the time wouldn't cover the cost of the loan.

Right, dick, like mine are too? lol I do shit on the side as well...it helps to have a truck when I bid work and drive customers around as well.
I still don't see how lifted truck = asshole and inept.
Tint and 12's might startle your customers as well, no? Just saying.
