We talk when we are together, but when we are on the phone talking or texting she doesn't say much but "yeah", "i love you", and a smile. and thats it. so what can i say to start a conversation? Its getting kind of old with the same old same old things being said.

I hate talking on the phone, to anybody. It gets boring after about 90 seconds. If that's the case with you, just explain that to her. I'm sure she'd understand. It's not like there's anything wrong with it.

lucky for mstad i'm the same way. i can't stand talking on the phone. i'd take texting over talking on the phone any day. at least with texting, if you don't have anything to say, just don't text.

You just need a conversation starter, and then you can go from there (as long as you guys are able to have good conversations...some people just aren't conversationally compatible). Anyway, why don't you talk about something you want to do soon, or will do soon (like a movie you want to see, what its about, etc). Kind of a cop out conversation, but usually this sort of talk starts up more conversation. Or, talk about something a friend/family member did that was weird, interesting, funny, whatever.
Like I said, a lot of this may sound kind of boring, but I notice it seems to get a lot of people talking (other than sex related talk...if you guys want to try that).
I hate speaking on phones too.

Forunately after being with my GF for 4 years she has learned that I don't do phone conversations unless one of us is out of town.

Chances are, if she isn't bringing anything to the conversation she doesn't really wanna talk either. Go with honesty here, say something like, "Hey Babe, ya know, I'd so much rather be talking to you while you are laying next to me" or something to that extent. Make it seem like you 'want' to talk her, but the phone just doesn't work for you. Hopefully she will understand that just because you don't like talking on the phone, doesn't mean that you don't like her. :\

Or something like that.

Find something that pisses her off. That'll get her to either talk or want to get off the phone!

:werd:

I think that it depends on the person. Like Queso said, she doesn't know either, but text messaging works better for her, maybe that is what you need to do?

I'm not much of a phone person. I like to text or talk in person. The phone just doesn't do it for me especially if I can tell you are doing something else like working, out with friends, readying, watching tv etc.

Well... call if you have a reason.

My calls are always like 'hows it going, what ya doin, whats new and after that i goto the reason of the call.' if there is something to talk about after that i stay and chat otherwise its good byes and on with my life.

I must say i've never called if there wasnt a reason :\

Yea, this will be great. I talk much ( or many ) with my girlfriend on phone and when we are together. I have all time to talk about :D weather, what we will do, what we did, school and etc talking.

i can't stand being on the phone with ANYONE for over 3 minutes.
and to be honest, it's worse with my fiance'. I love the shit outta him but we both just hate the phone. We call, say what needs to be said then hang up.

Maybe that's just how it is with her? I dont feel its too big a deal?
