Anybody here into making their own melee weapons? I enjoy making them and recyling/reusing old parts of things to become the weapon. I like using old table legs as handles and atatching various objects to them to become the blunt of the weapon. Right now I am working on one where I am wrapping 14 gauge fence wire around the end of the leg (I have shaved and modified it). So far I have wrapped about 30 feet and it's starting to get heavy. I have one where I got a good sized rock from a nearby creek and drilled a hole down through the middle of it and attached it with a bolt and washer, the whole thing weighs about 15 lbs. and resembles a war hammer. It's pretty cool. Anybody else have any? I have others if you want to see pictures or hear (read) about them.

To post pictures you must first upload them on a host.Right now the best place to upload pics to post here is http://suprfile.com/.
You'll see a box that say File: on the left of it and a button that says Browse... on the right of it. Click the Browse buttoin and find the pic from your computer. Then hit the button that says Upload File underneath there. From there it will take you to a screen that says Your file has been uploaded!, and give you a bunch of options for the link. You'll want the 8th link down, right under the heading Direct. Copy that link and put img tags around it.

If you do it without the spaces, it'll look like this after you submit the post.

You had this one right, except you left a space in the closing tag.
Looks like you could really cave some skulls with that thing.

"Z Day" LOL you guys are nuts.
Besides, I'd much rather use a sawed-off shotgun in a zombie melee anyway

My whole theory is that you can never have enough bludgeoning weapons around you. Besides according to the mythos provided by cinema, bullets aren't really going to do very much damage to the undead. That is unless of course you get a head shot every time, and even then it has to be COMPLETELY destroyed. I'm a farely decent shot, but under stress of some damn dumb f**k creature trying to get me, I don't think I would pull the shot off. But in the heat of the moment and the adrenaline I could surely swing my hammer around and crush some rotten skull open.
So does anybody have any that they have made? I'll post more pictures later.

well now bear in mind that I did say "zombie melee" implying that I would be in a range close to, but not quite as close as, you would be with a bludgeoning weapon like your hammer.
Accounting for that, I don't think a frequent head shot, (or a shot at least high enough to sever the brain stem), would be too hard to pull off with a short 12ga.
Now I'd want something by my side for backup if, say, I couldn't clear the room before reloading, but generally speaking I wouldn't want to have to expend too much physical energy, cuz I don't want to have to put down my drink.
But yeh I won't be shocked if there are other people on this board that share your hobby LOL

I guess you are right when it comes to close range, I guess I overlooked the melee part of what you said. When it comes to within a matter of a few feet or so, then yeah a good sawed off 12 with some buck shot would do plenty of damage.

Here is that wire wrapped leg I was talking about at the beginning of the post. It only has about 30 feet or so and I plan to wrap on a whole lot more. As it is my 5 year old son can hold it and swing it pretty effeciently, so that tells me that it is no where near completion yet. I still also have to shave it down and put some detail on it. My warhammer needs to be detailed out as well.

Large caliber guns would be a best case choice, but ammo can get to be a problem. That's where melee weapons come in handy.
But yeh I won't be shocked if there are other people on this board that share your hobby LOLHe's from Tulare, what else does he have to choose from for a hobby? Besides, in the off chance of a zombie infestation, better safe than sorry.
