The Chinese tourist gang there was going bonkers though. Those guys must have photographed every single exhibit and then video taped it too just for good measure :duh:

Heineken Brewery

This first shot was taken barely within the first hour of my being in Amsterdam. I landed and checked into the hotel at around midnight on Friday. Since I knew from map that this thing must be close by, I decided to check out its location and sure enough I found it within a few minutes. I liked the nightly glow in this pic.

The sun was setting and it was time for the most "must-do" trip - a stroll down the Red light district. I must say its a bit tricky to find it during day as it is buried deep inside a maze of similar looking streets but as the sun sets (which is around 11 pm at this time of the year), the crowd will lead you right in

Amsterdam has a museum on all those things which you can't find elsewhere. First Sex and now drugs...located right next of the Red light area...how appropriate :-)

Photographing the girls in the window is "totally" prohibited here, so the next few shots is all I could somehow manage (switching on the camera and let is hang sideways and just pressing the button once in a while..all the while hoping to avoid being seen by the pimps who will not hesitate your camera and toss it in the canal if they do catch u photographing). They are terrible in most respects but that's all I could manage :-(

The sun sets on my 1 day sojourn in the happening place that is Amsterdam. I loved the city and its energy..a welcome relief after 20 days in Minden Germany, which was as sleepy as it gets.

nice pix ...

ice is difficult to photograph and get the idea across ... the windmill pix does a good job as does the fireplace .

the clandestine shots of the redlight district are cool ... the different angles convey a slightly "vouyeristic" message .
the pix with the guy leaning up against the right side of the doorway ("the district") and the blurred pedestrians would make a great opening shot for an expose' !

the little kid playing with the dolls is a lucky shot ... just try to get a kid to do that intentionally !

the que line ("the world of heineken") ... it looks like the woman pissed her pants ! the stairwell picture is cool . the hop vine in the corner is good ... they grow that stuff around this neck of the woods .


it's good to see "one man's perspective" ... a refreshing change from all those "injection moulded" travel ads !
