Anybody else use verizon, ive noticed that they have the worst selection of phones. Aside from the smartphones they really have nothing, ive looked at unlocked phones, but they still have to be on the same CDSM (i think thats what it is called) network.... Anybody have any solutions to throw out?

I am not sure why you think VZW's phone selection sucks; they compare favorably to the others (IMHO). As to unlocked phones, they won't do you any good. VZW no longer activates phones they do not sell. Years ago (maybe a year or two ago), you could activate Korean phones or phones sold by other CDMA carriers in the US. Much has changed. Sprint is the same too.

They have a wide phone selection yes, but are there phones aesthetically pleasing? To me, no they are not. They never have the hot new phones with the nice cameras, and all the new features, and if they do its years after the other providers (cingular/t-mobile) has come out with them. Does that make sense what im saying. I know they have alot of diffrent phones and styles and what not.

VZW got the RAZR V3m (the one with expandable memory and a 1.23MP camera) before Cingular got the V3i (similar phone, only with iTunes); they were the first with the Treo 700p and 700w; they are currently the only one with the Motorola Q; they are the first American carrier with a 3.2MP camera phone (the Samsung A990). They are also the only carrier with the LG Chocolate. They will soon have the Motorola SLVR, KRZR, and the LG Chocolate (flip), along with an update LG "V." As to their phones being aesthetically pleasing, that is a matter of personal preference.

yea. i agree. i thought about going to verizon about a year ago when cingular came out with the new htc hermes (cingular 8525) the upgrade from the 8125

the cingular 8125 is the same phone as the vz 6700, both made by htc

verizon had and still has the xv6700 (aka cingular 8125). i figured that once cingular got the new 8525 then it wouldnt be too long till vz got it (and called it the 6800). i waited a while and eventually decided that wm5 sucks so i just ebayed a unlocked nokia from england.

infact, a year later they STILL have the way old 6700 and they are still asking $400 for it.

and yet, verizon is the only company (in america) that has built in gps with navigation software in most of their phones (expensive smartphones excluded) (lol)

all of the earth except north korea, communist china, verizon and sprint use gsm networks, so companies like att, alltel and tmobile have the advantage of buying 2-4 year old technology that has been in third world countries like the phillipines for years and selling it to stupid americans as tho it was brand new amazing stuff. thats why att phones are cooler then the others (and really should be way better then they are). vz and sprint are on the cdma network so they cant pay garage sale prices for old tech that the rest of the world develops for them. BUT it really shouldnt be that hard to figure it out with the billions of dollars they have.

so i really duno what verizons malfunction is.

that said, i do hear that the vz network is better then att

they are the first American carrier with a 3.2MP camera phone (the Samsung A990).

its easy to ebay unlocked phones with better cameras then that. i got my n80ie for under $300 and the n95 has a 5mp camera (that makes .mp4 vids at 30 frames per second)

..except you cant use commie cdma.. these only work with gsm [alltel, tmobile, att]..

but with no contract and no lock on the phone you can argue rates and bounce around between the 3 at least. cell phoning in america sucks.

Personally, I'm a rather satisfied Verizon customer.

I've got a black LG-Chocolate phone and love it, the 1.3 MP camera is all I need / want in a mobile phone (If I'm taking important-ish picture, I bring my one of my other cameras), and with 2GB memory card, it holds all the .mp3s I want to listen to. My only complaints are the slight difficulty of text-messaging with the phone, and its battery life if I'm listening to lots of .mp3s.

If you're unhappy with Verizon, switch carriers.
