That's me. It makes me cry to see this forum get so little participation.

Let the recipes begin!

Seriously, though. I love to cook and bake and am pretty awesome at it, so feel free to ask me questions.

so if I was to say, "get in the kitchen and make me a sammich", I wonder, what would your response be...? :)

to wit, and seriously speaking, I do like a good hearty sandwich, but don't usually go too far in variety beyond a reuben on rye...what's your idea of a truly hearty, satisfying sandwich, one that is more of a meal than a snack...I'm open to any ideas beyond my usual fare - willing to open my horizons as it were...

I would say slap an apron on me and call me Betty Crocker :wiggle:

Is this sammich going to be something you make and take or something you buy?

dammit, all the good ones are taken...story of my life LOL

seriously though, it would be something I'd make or order...I just want some good ideas of things to try - like I recently had sundried tomatoes on a sandwich & it was bitchin', but I wouldn't have thought of that myself...what might you have seen in your travels that would be unusual, delectable, yet not to weird for an old school carnivore?

like I had feta cheese on a BLT recently & it was rad. Similarly, I got some crumbled bleu on a prime rib & grillled onion sammy on a hard french roll that blew me away next to the icy Sierra draft I had with it...

I'm all about the bachelor-chow (it makes it's own gravy), so whaddya know bout that, hon?

Leftovers make great, hearty sandwhiches.

Like meatloaf. Take a slice of meatloaf, slice of provolone and jarred spaghetti sauce on a hard french roll. That is guaranteed to fill you up, and you can eat it hot or cold.

Another good one is chicken salad sandwhich. This is versatile because you can mix anything you want it it. You can buy canned chicken (it is really good) and go as basic as chicken, mayo, celery and black pepper, or mix it up with some red grapes and walnuts for something different.

Another good tip is to just go with regular turkey breast, but instead of mayo and mustard, buy a pre-made cheese spread at the store. You can buy any sort of soft cheese, like goat cheese with dill, or brie cheese. It will give the sandwhich a bit of a bite and totally kick the flavor up.

You can buy pre-marinated chicken breasts in the frozen section, and make a chicken terriakyi sandwhich with canned rings of pineapple (this goes GREAT with mayo spread on a soft kaiser roll).

Another great thing to make is wraps if you are into that sort of thing. You can make taco wraps and put some leftover ground taco meat in a flour tortilla with tomatoes, cheese and lettuce.

My absolute favorite is Grilled Cheese and tomato sammiches. Pretty self explanitory there.

Another I've found makes a good sammich better is some avacado slices.

I would go to the local store and buy a loaf of french bread, slice it down the middle, turn oven to broil, put a little garlic and butter on the bread, put under broiler til toasted, then put some cheese, like chedder, colbyjack, ect, your choice, put it back under the broiler until melted. Then put the meat of you choice, grilled chicken is my fav. and toppings on, I like greens, tomato, jalapeno, and ranch dressing. cut and serve, very tasty. :yumyum:

I used to love eatting sandwiches, but got seriously burnt out.

I like real food for lunch, so I always cook extra for dinner and have leftovers. :-)

Leftovers make the best sammiches.
