hey all, im bipolar depressive, which i have been managing very well, im talking to people in a manner i used to, but something that always lets me down is i cant think of making conversations about things, bringing them to the forefront and being OTT sometimes helps, previously i was outgoing, bubbly, always had things to say, so im looking for a drug to make me slightly hyper, without any damage to the body, and no im not nuts, so if anyone has a drug in mind let me know :naughty:

maybe a caffeine stimulant drink?

may just perk you up a little, just enough to get you being a bit more extrovert :)

First of all are you on any medications for your bipolar, what exact kind of bipolar disorder do you have? Getting on that would help with these problems you list, i mean ritalin or amphetamine based drugs will make you hyper and talkitive, but its only a temporary patch not a solution.

im supposed to be on olanzapine, but have gone off all medications for the past 3 months, due to being worse on them, its just anxiety and nervousness, being negative, not thinking properly etc says 'generalised anxiety diorder in the letters to my GP!

red bull i tried didnt even affect me :)

being bipolar means you have to be careful of what you take. anything that changes the bodies chemistry can seriously mess you up. As the boards resident nutjob, i can tell you this from experience

What he said, you should talk to your doctor if that medication isnt working to get you on something that does work.

I hate to break this news to you but it can take many years before you find a good combination of medication for you. It took docs 2 years and a solid month in the psych ward to find something that kept me remotely stable. Good luck and remember that nothing is a quick fix.

no, but everyone i have tried make sme worse, if im better off them than on them, then they are not for me, i was on olanzapine for a year, it made me fat, sugar crave, psychotic, lazy, not giving a damn, tired, basically house ridden, atleast now i go out...

so does anyone have any other drug suggestions ? :naughty:

sounds to me like you need to have a serious talk with your doctor/psychiatrist.

i have tried and tried but get ignored...

then find new doctors and psyciatrists. A good doctor will mot ignore the patient.

take it from the guy whose handle is bipolar... it can take a while to find a good combo, or just one medication that works for you. it may take a while but its worth it. i have been switching meds like a madman trying to find an antianxiety pill that works for me and ive gone through like 4 already no luck.

keep trying, and a little therapy could probably help a bit if you havent already gone through some.

I have been treating people with bipolar disorder for years. The problem is that as soon as a person that is bipolar comes out of a manic or depressive state, they immediately quit taking thier medications, and in about 4 months, slowly slip into another episode and then I get blammed for not treating them properly. Bipolar disorder is a very serious disorder, that has to be treated very carefully. Trying to find something to make you feel energetic is very dangerous due to the fact that it can push you into a manic or hypomanic state, which can also bring about psychosis. Even drinking can become your worst enemy. Best advise. Accept the fact that you have to be a little less outgoing in order to lead a happy normal life. I hope you don't take this as being mean, I am just trying to shed some light from someone that has a bipolar brother. and I hate watching him try to find the next "drug' to make him feel better.
