Low carb, low fat, run everyday.
Guaranteed results. Good quality proteins, tons of water.
eat less, move more (Overall, burn more calories/day than you take in). Really depends on what kind of time frame you have (1 wk? 1 mo? 6mos?). The above really is more for a long term approach, not a "quick fix". Hope that helps. Good luck.

How quick? You really shouldn't try to lose it faster than you gained it, or your body will just go into starvation conservation mode and you'll end up fatter than you started.
There's nothing that will burn more fat in the long run than weight training. Muscles need a lot of calories to keep them going and stealing it from body fat is how they do it. Calorie reduction diets all steal their energy by burning muscle, not fat.
Of course, if you have $$ there's always liposuction.
why do u need to lose weight all of a sudden ?..LOL.. met somebody ?...

:runover:     Thanks all 4 the info, wife fussin bout the weight, drank beer all the time ,and a trucker driver....
Beer just means you are taking in more calories. If beer turns into a gut, that means you don't get enough exercise. Weights and crunches are your best bet now, but it will take a while to get rid of a beer gut.

kontrol your diet, go to a gym, find someone that looks like they spend way too much time workin out, and ask them how they maintain their 6-pak. Do what they do, but don't expect results in less than 3 months. It's harder to lose than gain!!!

do not rush a weight loss, the quicker you lose it, the quicker it comes back, as was mentioned with the starvation mode your body goes into, i was losing 1 stone a month, that was good for me personally :)

grapefruit juice is a catalyst to start fat burn...there is something in the juice that starts up the fat burning. I've had many trainers tell me this.

I believe the grapefruit juice has something in it to reduce insulin levels. When your insulin is too high your sugar isn't being used as energy properly and thus it gets stored as fat. Also high levels of insulin are the cause of us feeling 'hungry'.
Thats why drinking things such as coke zero thinking its a diet drink generally turns out to be counterproductive. When we drink the coke zero our stomach goes 'hey look food' and releases insulin. The rise in insulin makes you hungry which in turn makes you want to eat.
Thats why you hear body builders etc. all saying that you have to eat food with a low GI foods. When you eat something that has a high GI your body responds by releasing a lot of insulin. By eating low GI foods your body releases insulin slower which in turn means more of the food is being used as energy :)
But after all this is said and done there is no miracle cure for weight loss but there is one simple rule: what you put in is what you get out. If you put in junk food your body will turn into junk. If you put in good foods your body will be good. If you put in more then your body needs it will turn into fat. If you starve your body then your body will waste away.

while the atkins diet or something like that will give you quick results it may not be healthy for you, however i went on the south beach diet and in a month i lost about 20 pounds. I wasn't eating high amounts of protein rather much much more salad and other vegitibles and fruit. i was suprised at how well it worked.

First of all, the healthiest way to lose weight is diet and exercise. No exceptions.
If you are exercising, DO NOT CUT CARBS! Yes, once you put your body into a state of ketosis you will lose weight, but carbs are essential to restoring the blood sugar levels after you get done working out.
3500 calories equals one pound of body weight, so if you eat 500 calories less per day, you will lose 1 pound a week. How much weight are you trying to lose? A good rule of thumb is to eat no less than 10x your weight in calories per day. I would also go with around 40/40/20 (carbs, protein, and fat)

the trick isn't eliminating any one thing necessarily, but just balancing out what you do eat. Be careful with low-carb diets, because I hear the bounce-back (read: reinflating like a bounce house and then some) can be a beast.
just don't neglect the greens and eat smaller portions. Swimming is a really good way of shedding pounds too, because you exercise the whole body at once. Not to mention, come on, swimming is fun.
if you don't have a pool close by, I recommend a river, lake, or other body of water (assuming it's safe to swim in).

I'm doing the medifast 5-1 diet currently. Really is working well for me. Losing weight pretty rapidly and im not hungry because you eat 6 meals spread out over the day. food isn't spectacular but its teaching me to enjoy smaller meals more frequently to keep up my metabolism even though I'm fairly sedentary.
The shakes and puddings and bars are all easy enough to make while on the road. Watch out for the quick and easy stuff though, the weight will just come back on.

controlled diet and moderate excercise to start. then up the tempo as your body sees fit. eat light several times a day(small portions and snacks) and drink plenty of water and eat fruit(refering to the snacks i just mentioned). the only thing that will make you starving and gorge is thinking about it. so eliminate this by snacking healthily.

You need to change your metabolism...check out CrossFit (it's free), and "The Zone" diet...
Don't waste your time doing sit-ups and crap (although they have their place).
If you do the CrossFit as Rx'd, you will lose about a pound every week...mind you, you are putting on loads of lean muscle...until you are where your body should be.
You need to increase the size of the engine (muscle mass) so that you burn fuel better/faster (quality fuel).
If you like to eat, then this is the way to go too, because you are eating more and more often. This futher increases the metabolic rate because your body sees that there is always fuel in the 'tank', and knows it doesn't have to store it up as fat while you starve.
Check it out, it's free and on the net...just throw a .com after crossfit and off you go!
BTW, it's 3days on, 1off. Check out the Workout of the Day (WOD). There's an article on the site about starting off too! Just look for it.
First, see your doctor...if you have a heart condition or hypertension or something you may do more harm than good :|
If you need something for the road, check out the TRX suspension trainer...it fits in a bag the size of half a loaf of bread....I'm getting one soon myself.

what about that hollywood miracle diet drink?

may want to quit drinking soda, that helps lose weight, start drinking more water, juices, not things like orange "drinks". dont eat huge meals eat more times a day w/ small meals. you dont have to go running, just start walking or somehting. Also if you are able do some sit-ups push-ups at night or in the morning, both night/morning is best.

what about that hollywood miracle diet drink?
It may seem like a good idea, but the black stuff you end up dumping out is actually dried blood.
If you want to cleanse, do it over a month's time. It's safer and your body and diet doesn't have to suffer. (Hollywood diet = nothing but that drink and water...zero food).

I'll add my two cents worth. It's hard to know how much you're eating during a day. I've lost about 30 lbs in the last two months. That's fast, but then again, I took drastic measures which I will describe below. Different shit works for different people, but my problem was that I was completely unaware of the caloric content of all the things I consumed. In order to gain complete awareness in the matter, I wrote everything, and i mean everything, that i ate down. I write it in a book and I put the calories associated with it. And I add it up at pivotable points during the day. You can look all of it up online @ nutritiondata.com. This will force you to recognize how many calories you consume per day. (I was eating around 4000, but i would have guessed 3000). It's got generic food and fast food too. they say that hindsight is 20/20, but most people only use hindsight for the purposed of regret instead of using it to make a decent decision the next time. Once you see your eating habits in print, then you can begin making smart, easy decisions about how to start cutting calories. It won't be hard either. I've come up with this method from my own personal F'd up nature. I can do things that are good for me all day long, but I'm really bad at not doing things that are bad for me. For instance, I can make myself exercise 2 hours in a day, no prob. But I can't keep myself from eating before bed sometimes. So I figured out that if I stop concentrating on not eating, but then start concentrating on controlling the situation by taking action, I get decent results. If you write it all down, trust me, you'll find easy ways to mold your daily diet into something that is good for you without going on a diet. Things will just change. Anyway, by writing it down, you're making a visible effort and you have solid numbers in front of you all the time. If you have self control issues, then that definitely helps. the other thing of course is that you should work out and exercise. Running/Cardio is good because it burns fat of course, but it's also really important to get in the gym and lift weights. Adding muscle will boost your metabolism. I've been writing it down for two months now and I've gotten really good at guessing calorie contents of whatever is in front of me. btw, I'm not saying to only allow yourself so many calories per day either. Believe me, just writing it down will be enough to get the ball rolling. I also have a Polar heartrate monitor that estimates my caloric expenditure when running and lifting. You can also get online and figure out what the average metabolism is for someone your size and activity level. Apparently it takes about 3100 a day for me to maintain my weight. My fat loss has been pretty drastic, and I've hit the gym pretty heavy to maintain muscle so that i don't have to start eating less.
Long story short:
1) Write it down religiously. I can't describe exactly how it works, but it does.
2) Run or do some high heartrate cardio. It'll take the fat off fast.
3) Make sure you do weight training. Your metabolism will get a nice boost that will be constantly pearing you down.

Don't drink any regular soda. The low carb diet helped me, but kicking regular coke, as well as heavy beer had the biggest effect.

I find rather than running for an hour or whatever some of the other guys were saying doesn't really get the best results .... you build up good endurance but i find if you do a varied workout you can get better results
I tend to do cardio like this
go slow for 2 mins (warm up)
jog for about 3 mins
sprint for 5 mins
jog for 5
sprint for 5
jog/walk for a bit to cool down
but make sure you do weight training aswell so your not the guy that lost weight but has absolutely no muscle tone. I have found swimming is a really good work out as well I usually go for a swim after I weight train for my cardio. Im not very good at it yet so i tend to half drown every once in a while.

this is my routine, but with your schedule I dunno if it'll work, and this routine didn't come overnight, I've kinda become a workout-a-holic, everyday I do 40 minutes of cardio with intervals of either higher speed or more incline 6 days/week, then lift weights doing chest/triceps/biceps on monday/wed/fri then switching to back/shoulders on tue/thur/sat and I do abs 6 days a week, your abs can be worked and worked and worked, they're very strong and people don't realize that to get where you wanna be its gotta be working hard everyday, and once you start to see the results you'll want to work on it more and you'll start to feel so much better, plain and simple---Work Out and Eat Healthier, I'm sure thats hard on the road, but everytime you stop to get food, look at what you're gonna get and I bet you can find something healthier...good luck! in the end it will all depend how much you want it
