First I would run your anti-virus scanner followed by Ad-Aware and Spybot
Then run ScanDisk followed by Defrag.

After all of that, in SafeMode, get back to me on the start up times.

If your laptop takes a while to boot up, it may be because of lack of memory. Boot in safemode and check your disk space. If memory isn't the problem your windows may be corrupt.

WTF?!!?
None of that made any sense.
He can check the HDD space in normal start up
Please which HDD has nothing to do with memory, meaning system memory aka RAM.

If you want to see what programs and services run when your computer starts up click on the start bar, then click run, type in msconfig, hit ok. Then click on the startup tab, this will show you all the programs that run when windows starts up.
