It is a barbiturate. I think that it is pentobarbital. It is a nonselective CNS depressant, and will make you feel like you have melted into the chair that you are sitting in. I never really liked them myself, they made me feel too "baseline." I know that the use of barbiturates have declined a lot in past years, as they are pretty habit forming, now other sleeping aids like ambien are given out. If it was used as an anxiety drug, valium and xanax are much more popular now. I know that vets sometimes use it to put animals down, and they still give it to terminal cancer patients, but other than that, not sure about it availibility. Hope that helps.

I have never heard of this drug previous to the thread. Or of it being perscribed.

Thanks, I used it (Nembutal) years ago and enjoyed the feeling. I can't get a Dr. to prescribe it now though. Other forgotten drugs are Doridon,Ts and Blues, and Plasidil. I loved the 60s.

yeh, barbs' are hard to come by now. I have a friend who has some back problems and they give her Butalbital, which is a medium lasting barb'. Nembutal is a shorter lasting one. I am pretty sure the only one that is given out anymore is Butalbital.
