I've just recently started getting into using rubs on meat for grilling, but I don't know any recipes for a good rub. I'm about to start grilling while I've got good weather, anyone know some good rubs?
Sorry I didn't see this sooner. This is for chicken.
1/2 cup seasoned salt
2 tablespoons salt
1/2 teaspoon dried whole thyme
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Add the ingredients together, then rub on the chicken. Let the chicken sit in the fridge over night. Then, before grilling, rub some more on the chicken.

At one of the restaurants we use our basic rub & depending on the season we add different spices to it. Always when you can let the meat sit in the fridge overnight, it will be worth the wait.
1tbs ground cumin
1/2tbs chili powder
1/2tbs kosher salt (I suggest using a coarse salt like kosher for rubs because it doesn't dissolve like table salt would)
1 teaspoon dried mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper(it makes a big difference)
If you want to make it your own try adding 1-2 teaspoons of one of the following:
cardamom
cinnamon(not Facepeeler's)
paprika
cellery salt
onion powder
garlic powder
ground ginger
cayenne pepper
curry powder
(I suggest using a coarse salt like kosher for rubs because it doesn't dissolve like table salt would)

Thanks for the input. I mainly grill beef, but every now and then some pork or chicken is a good change.
Gonna have to take a stab at this soon.
As for the tip on the salt, I like using sea salt. Always works pretty good for me.

I was wondering when you(or anyone else) would say something like that in here.
