aight here is the question:
What is the best long range gun in your opinion?
My vote goes for the Barrett M82A1 .50 cal. for when you realy need to reach out and touch someone. :shoot:

great Rifle as long as you have a humvee to haul it and all your ammo around ;)

The M82A1 is ok I personally used the M107 when I was in service but went to the XM109 rifle. It is a 25mm payload rifle very accurate but has a hard recoil. It also weighs some.

The barrett light 50 aka M82A1 is an amazing weapon. Having seen them in action during a conflict and the damage they can do, i certainly wouldnt want to be on the wrong side of one.

Weighs far too much of course.

I have been using the 300 WSM out to 500yds with no problems. Kinda spendy for an all day shoot though.

Gee.....

That's alot of big caliber stuff. I have many rifles, but my favorite is an old SKS firing 7.62x39 ammo. I've put thousands upon thousands of rounds through it; I've never cleaned it. NEVER! It fires every time. Pouring rain and you don't want to take the nice gun out? Grab the SKS. Heading to the swamp (and expect to get really muddy) to hunt boar? Grab the SKS. The ammo is very cheap!

I paid $100 for mine in 1989; it's unbreakable. It's sorta like that damn energizer bunny.

Grab an sks and the cheaper than dirt catalog and you can build a nice looking rifle. I know a lot of people who hunt with lesser expensive rifles in bad weather. I have range queens that are just to heavy to hunt with.

Theres a new round by barret, the .416 its a higher velocity bullet than the .50BMG with even a tad bit more range..

sks' aren't particularly accurate over 100 yards, you could hit a human, but forget a target; the receiver moves too much to mount a scope, mounting a scope elsewhere costs more than the gun itself. i do love my sks, but the top loading makes it clumsy; i do love my yugo m70 (ak) though; if only the barrel were chrome lined...

I have a madi out of cario that is similar to the sks and it is a very nice gun, I left it in a tool box for a few days that had water in it and a little break fast and it was a good as new.....

As far as a little lighter, the remington mini 14 range rifle accepts a scope and does nicely on a calm day for upto 250 yards, but the round is too light for heavy brush or a really windy day.........

And if you are looking for something crazy to shoot go for the 460 magnum...

ive got a 7rem mag, very flat shooter.... if i could get any long range rifle it would be the accuracy international L96A1 with the 338 lapua magnum. Good out to 1600 meters, with decent energy.
