Has anyone ever done the whole Pan-American?

I'm planning a trip in a few years to take the whole Pan American Highway from Deadhorse Alaska to cape horn in southern Chile. Has anyone ever done it for themselves?

No but, I did meet a man who drove almost the entire distance. You can't pass through the Darien National Park along the Panama-Colombian border in a car or truck. Best bet is to load your vehicle on one of the ships docked in Panama City heading for Ecuador and pick up the journey there.
If you do, be sure to have all your paperwork in order, because many border crossings can be tricky and you could be held up for a time if the local border police think you are up to something i.e. smuggling.
